What are your plans for November 21? If they're not skiing or riding at Okemo, change your plans.
Okemo just announced their target opening date of Saturday, November 21. That's inline with previous years and gets us on the slopes the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Last year, Okemo opened on Saturday, November 22 with 12 trails and 4 lifts. We'll see if the weather permits for more aggressive snowmaking this year.
Vail Resorts made a substantial invesment in Okemo over the summer to install hundreds of more efficient snow guns, electric compressors, and a new summit valve house and computerized distribution system. Our fingers are crossed that this means more snow to for us to enjoy, particularly earlier and later into the season.
While you're waiting for Okemo to open for the 2026-27 season, enjoy this fun game where you can virtually ski or ride at Okemo. The terrain graphics look like they're for a resort at a much higher altitude, but it's still fun.
See you in Ludlow on November 21!
